Obverse description The obverse features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted centrally with four Asiatic lions atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel), rendered in high relief. Immediately below the emblem appears the national motto in Devanagari script: सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs'). The denomination numeral '5' is prominently displayed in the lower field. The country name appears in Devanagari (भारत) along the left periphery and in Latin script (INDIA) along the right, with '5 RUPEES' inscribed along the right rim.
