Obverse description Left-facing bust of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, the celebrated poet-philosopher and spiritual father of Pakistan, rendered in high relief with naturalistic detailing of his facial features and draped attire. Urdu legends arc along the left and right periphery of the field, reading 'Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal' and 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan' respectively. The date 2001 appears in Latin numerals at the base of the design, centered within the lower field. The coin is bordered by a continuous inner ring of beading.

Reverse description A detailed frontal perspective view of a modernist multi-storey government building, flanked by stylized palm trees and ornamental streetlights in the foreground, occupying the central field. A flag is depicted at the top of the building. The denomination '5' in Latin numeral followed by the Urdu word for Rupees (روپیہ) is inscribed in bold relief at the lower center of the field. The design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border.
