Obverse description Central effigy of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, facing slightly to the right in formal attire. Urdu legend reading 'قائد اعظم محمد علی جناح' (Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah) appears to the left of the portrait, and 'اسلامی جمہوریہ پاکستان' (Islamic Republic of Pakistan) to the right. The date 2001 is inscribed at the bottom of the field. The design is executed in a restrained, formal style befitting a commemorative pattern issue.

Reverse description A large pentagonal star dominates the center of the reverse, with the numeral '5' prominently displayed at its center and the Urdu word 'روپیہ' (Rupee) inscribed below within the star. Ornate foliate and scroll arabesques fill the four corners of the field between the star and the inner border, lending a decorative quality to the design. A beaded inner border encircles the entire composition, and the rim is plain and raised.
