Obverse description Central field features the Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, depicted in three-quarter view with three lions visible atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Directly below the capital appears the Devanagari legend SATYAMEVA JAYATE (Truth alone triumphs), the national motto. The Devanagari legend BHARAT is inscribed along the left periphery and the Latin legend INDIA along the right periphery, both arranged vertically. The denomination ₹ 5, incorporating the Indian Rupee symbol, is prominently displayed in the lower field.
