Obverse description The national emblem of India — the Lion Capital of Ashoka — is depicted centrally, showing three lions passant guardant atop an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra wheel flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Immediately below the capital, the motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, 'Truth alone triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The denomination numeral '5' appears prominently in the lower field, with 'RUPEES' arcing along the right legend and 'रुपये' arcing along the left. The country name 'भारत' in Devanagari appears to the upper left and 'INDIA' in Latin script to the upper right. The coin is bordered by a continuous security-style beaded rim.
