| Obverse description | The Ashoka Lion Capital, the national emblem of India, is depicted in the center of the field, showing three lions mounted on an abacus adorned with a Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a bull and a horse in relief. Immediately below the capital, the national motto सत्यमेव जयते (Satyameva Jayate, 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The issuer name appears on either side of the emblem, भारत to the left and INDIA to the right.
