Obverse description The Ashoka Lion Capital, the national emblem of India, is depicted centrally in high relief, showing three lions atop an abacus with the Dharma Chakra. Immediately below the emblem, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script. The large numeral '5' appears prominently in the lower field, with the legend 'RUPEES' arcing along the right periphery. The country name 'भारत' in Devanagari script appears along the left periphery and 'INDIA' in Latin script along the upper right.
