Obverse description Portrait of King George VI in uniform with crown, positioned to the right within a guilloche border frame. The central text panel carries the promise-to-pay inscription with an overprint reading BURMA CURRENCY BOARD and LEGAL TENDER IN BURMA ONLY applied across the face of this Reserve Bank of India note. The denomination FIVE RUPEES appears in a bold panel at centre, with the numeral 5 repeated in the upper corners and along the left margin in an ornate cartouche.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by two large circular guilloche rosettes in olive and purple tones, flanking a central multilingual denomination panel. The Reserve Bank of India seal — an oval vignette of a palm tree with a tiger — appears within a guilloche oval to the right. The denomination FIVE RUPEES is expressed in multiple Indian scripts arranged vertically in the centre panel.
