| Obverse description | The Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar, the national emblem of India, is depicted centrally in high relief, showing four Asiatic lions mounted back-to-back atop an abacus adorned with relief animals and a Dharma Chakra. The motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth alone triumphs') appears in Devanagari script in the exergue beneath the emblem. The denomination '₹ 5' is boldly rendered in large numerals in the lower field. The legends 'भारत' in Devanagari and 'INDIA' in Latin script flank the emblem on the left and right respectively, arranged along the coin's rim. |
