Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in the center of the field, showing three lions sejant addorsed atop an abacus bearing a Dharma Chakra (24-spoked wheel) flanked by a bull and a horse in low relief. The Devanagari legend 'भारत' (Bharat) appears along the left rim and the Latin legend 'INDIA' along the right rim, both oriented vertically. Below the capital, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') is inscribed in Devanagari script across the lower field.
