| Obverse description | The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in the centre of the field, showing three of the four back-to-back lions atop an abacus bearing a central Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a galloping horse and a bull in low relief. The Devanagari legend 'भारत' appears to the left and 'INDIA' in Latin characters to the right, both reading upward along the inner border. Below the emblem, the national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Truth alone triumphs) is inscribed in Devanagari script. The coin is framed by a beaded border running along the entire circumference. |

| Reverse description | The large numeral '5' dominates the central field, with the denomination legend 'RUPEES' inscribed below it in Latin characters and the Devanagari equivalent 'रूपये' appearing above along the upper rim. The date appears in the lower exergue between the lotus sprays. The reverse is enclosed by a continuous beaded border matching that of the obverse. |
