Obverse description The obverse is printed in green tones with an intricate guilloche underprint. The Ashoka Lion Capital emblem is engraved at right, accompanied by the large denomination numeral '5' in the centre within a decorative vignette. The legend 'RESERVE BANK OF INDIA' runs across the top, with the promise text and 'FIVE RUPEES' inscribed centrally; the lower left carries the denomination in Devanagari script (पाँच रुपये), with a signature of the Governor and serial number at lower right.
