Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted centrally in the upper field, showing three lions passant on an abacus adorned with the Dharma Chakra flanked by a bull and a horse. Beneath the emblem, the national motto 'Satyameva Jayate' (Truth Alone Triumphs) is inscribed in Devanagari script, followed by the large numeral '5' in the lower field denoting the denomination. The peripheral legend reads 'भारत' (Bharat) to the left and 'INDIA' to the right in the upper arc, with 'रूपये' to the lower left and 'RUPEES' to the lower right.
