Obverse description The State Emblem of India — the Lion Capital of Ashoka, depicting three lions passant upon an abacus adorned with a horse, dharmachakra, and bull — occupies the upper central field. The national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate) is inscribed in Devanagari script immediately below the emblem. The country name appears in a peripheral legend, 'भारत' to the left and 'INDIA' to the right, both in large characters. The denomination '₹ 5', incorporating the official Indian Rupee symbol, is prominently displayed in the lower field.
