(Translation: USSR 5 Roubles 1989)
Reverse description A panoramic view of the Registan ensemble in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, rendered in fine relief against a mirror field, depicting the three historic madrassas — Ulugh Beg, Tilya-Kori, and Sher-Dor — with their characteristic minarets, iwan portals, and domed structures. Above the architectural scene, the stylised Cyrillic inscription 'РЕГИСТАН' arcs across the upper field in decorative lettering, accompanied by the date range 'XV·XVIII вв.' (15th–18th centuries) and an ornamental floral motif. A beaded border separates the architectural depiction from the lower field, where the city name 'САМАРКАНД' (Samarkand) is inscribed in capital Cyrillic letters.
