Obverse description Central field dominated by a large ornate Maltese cross, its arms decorated with fine horizontal milling lines, surmounted by an Imperial crown at the top and flanked by the numeral '5' on either side. Small crowned Imperial orbs appear at the cardinal points between the cross arms. The circular legend reads 'ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ' at the top and '1800. ГОДА' at the bottom, all rendered in bold Cyrillic characters. The design is characteristic of the austere neoclassical style favoured during the reign of Emperor Pavel I. The coin is struck in high-relief on a polished gold flan with minimal decorative border.
