Reverse description Within the brass centre, a naturalistically rendered Markhor (Capra falconeri), also known in Russian as Винторогий козёл (screw-horned goat), is depicted standing in full profile to the right atop rocky terrain, its characteristic corkscrew horns prominently displayed. The copper-nickel outer ring bears the legend КРАСНАЯ КНИГА СССР (Red Book of the USSR) along the upper arc, and ВИНТОРОГИЙ КОЗЁЛ (Markhor) along the lower arc, separated by two raised dots serving as punctuation marks.
