| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in black on pale pink-tinted paper, with a central text-based layout typical of mid-19th century Swedish banknote design. At the top centre sits the royal coat of arms flanked by lions, with the issuer's name in ornate script reading 'Sveriges Rikes Ständers Bank', and the denomination stated in large bold letters as 'Riksdaler FEM Riksmynt'. Guilloche rosette vignettes appear at both left and right margins, with a large numeral '5' at the lower centre, the date '1858' below the main text body, and the serial number 'N°048658' alongside the series designation 'Litt. E' in the upper corners. |

Sveriges Rikes Ständers Bank — the Estates of the Realm Bank — was in the process of being institutionally reshaped during this note's issue window. The Riksbank name and structure were formalized in 1866, meaning later examples from this series were issued by a bank already in transition toward its modern identity.
The Riksdaler Riksmynt itself was a unit born of the 1855 currency reform, introduced to rationalize Sweden's fractured coinage system. It lasted barely two decades before the krone replaced it in 1873 when Sweden joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union.
