Bank Melli Iran's wartime notes present a complicated provenance. Iran was under joint Anglo-Soviet occupation from August 1941 until the war's end, and the British-supervised monetary administration leaned heavily on Thomas De La Rue for continuity of supply — London printing was the practical default when domestic capacity was irrelevant and Allied logistics controlled everything moving in or out of the country.
P#39 belongs to the series issued under the young Shah following Reza Shah's forced abdication in September 1941. The watermark security was De La Rue's standard provision for the period, not a bespoke Iranian specification.
