Reverse description A large Roman numeral V dominates the central field, representing the denomination of 5 Réis, flanked on either side by symmetrical laurel branches forming a wreath. The date is divided and placed within the wreath, with two digits appearing on each side of the numeral. The outer legend PORTUGALIÆ . E . ALGARBIORUM . P . REGENS encircles the entire design, identifying João as Prince Regent of Portugal and the Algarves. The composition is clean and well-balanced, consistent with the milled coinage reforms of the period.
