Obverse description The German Imperial Eagle, rendered in a bold heraldic style with wings spread and head turned to the right, occupies the central field. The date 1934 is split by the eagle's body, with '19' to the left and '34' to the right at mid-field. The legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' curves along the upper periphery in Gothic (Fraktur) script, while '5 REICHSMARK' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the eagle. Two small swastika symbols flank the lower inscription at either side.
