Obverse description A finely rendered medieval sailing vessel — a two-masted cog or carrack — navigating to the right through stylised waves, its large billowing mainsail fully set and rigging depicted in high relief. The prow curves dramatically forward and a flag is visible at the masthead. The encircling legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs around the upper field, with the date 1926 at the lower right and the mint mark D at the lower left, all within a beaded border.
