Reverse description The reverse features a right-facing bust of the Protestant reformer Martin Luther in high relief, rendered in a realistic portrait style with detailed hair and clerical collar visible at the truncation. The legend 'MARTIN LUTHER' arcs along the upper field in the same Gothic-influenced script used on contemporary German commemorative coinage. The dates '1483 - 1933' appear in the lower field, flanking the portrait truncation, commemorating the 450th anniversary of Luther's birth. The design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
