| Obverse description | The obverse features the Weimar Republic eagle displayed at center, with wings spread and head turned to the right, rendered in a bold, stylized Art Deco manner. The commemorative dates 1832 and 1932, flanking the eagle to left and right respectively, mark the centenary of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's death. The circular legend DEUTSCHES REICH arcs across the upper field, while FÜNF REICHSMARK curves along the lower field. The mint mark appears in the lower exergue beneath the eagle.
