Tambo, depicting the order's neck badge rendered as an oval medallion with decorative swirl motifs, overlaid with a walking stick and the denomination mark R5 in large numerals. The engraver's initials CM appear at the lower right of the centre. The copper-nickel ring carries the legend ORDER OF THE COMPANIONS OF O.R. TAMBO around the upper arc, with O.R.
