Obverse description Purple intaglio print on white paper, with a vignette of the Uaxactún ceremonial vase at left and a quetzal bird in flight printed above the numeral denomination at center right. Red serial numbers are applied in letterpress. The composition is framed by fine guilloche border work characteristic of American Bank Note Company production.

Reverse description Purple intaglio print throughout, with a central vignette rendered in fine line engraving illustrating the clash between Spanish conquistadors and Maya warriors. The numeral "5" appears within scroll cartouches at both left and right margins, and the printer's imprint "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY" is inscribed in small text below the central vignette. Ornate guilloche borders frame the entire composition.
