Obverse description	Intaglio portrait of General Justo Rufino Barrios at right, set against a pink-purple guilloche underprint with a stylised stepped pyramid motif. A polychrome vignette of the national bird, the Resplendent Quetzal, appears at upper left, with a small Mayan glyph cartouche enclosing the numeral 5 at lower left. Two manuscript signatures appear at bottom centre beneath the titles GERENTE GENERAL and PRESIDENTA, with the authorisation date printed vertically at the right margin.

Reverse description	Central vignette in a ruled frame shows a female teacher surrounded by three young pupils in a primary-school classroom, with a chalkboard bearing letters and numerals visible in the background and the Guatemalan flag at right. Mayan deity figures in intaglio ornament the left border, while orange-tinted Mayan mask and serpent vignettes form the right-side underprint. The large numeral 5 in intaglio occupies the left field, and a decorative guilloche band runs across the top and bottom borders.
