| Reverse description | The reverse mirrors the cruciform lobed format of the obverse, with a prominent central raised medallion enclosing the word 'Hashimi' (هاشمي) in bold Thuluth calligraphy. Four surrounding lobed compartments carry the full Arabic legend identifying the issuing authority, denomination, mint city, and regnal year: the upper segment bears the name of the Hashemite Arab Government, the left and right lobes denote the denomination of five qirush and the word 'hashimi' respectively, and the lower segment records the mint as the holy city of Mecca with the year 8 (AH 1342). The design is heavily calligraphic throughout with no figurative elements. |
