| Obverse description | The upper portion of the note carries a central vignette of the Provincial Bank of Ireland's Belfast branch facade, a classical stone building rendered in fine intaglio, flanked by two oval guilloche medallions bearing the word FIVE. The bank's title arches across the top border with the legend UNLIMITED FOR NOTE ISSUE and ESTABLISHED A.D. 1825 beneath it. The lower half carries the handwritten promise-to-pay text in manuscript style, overlaid with a bold red-brown FIVE POUNDS underprint and a manuscript signature, with serial numbers N/A 54363 appearing at left and right. |
