| Obverse description | The Sudanese national arms occupies the centre of the field, depicting a secretary bird with wings spread, standing upon a shield and clutching a scroll in its talons. A ribbon banner above the eagle bears an Arabic inscription, while a second scroll below carries the Arabic legend of the state name. The denomination is expressed bilingually flanking the eagle: the Arabic numeral and word 'جنيهات' (pounds) to the left, and the Western numeral '5' with the abbreviation 'Ls.' to the right. The dual date appears in the lower field, with the Hijri year '١٣٩٨' to the right and the Gregorian year '١٩٧٨' to the left, both in Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals. |
