Obverse description The face is printed in blue and pink tones, with the bank's heraldic arms vignette centred at the lower portion of the note, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. Large decorative £5 numerals appear in each upper corner alongside guilloche underprint work filling the background. The issuing legend, promise to pay clause, place of issue, and date are typeset centrally, with the General Manager's manuscript signature printed below.
