Obverse description The central field carries an intaglio-engraved pastoral vignette of a farmer guiding two horses across a ploughed field, executed with fine line detail against a landscape background. A large ornate '£5' numeral anchors the centre, with the bilingual denomination 'FIVE POUNDS' and 'CÚIG PUINT' disposed along the left and right margins respectively, while bilingual Currency Commission headings in English and Irish run across the top. The issuing bank name 'THE MUNSTER & LEINSTER BANK LIMITED' appears in bold letterpress at the foot of the note.
