| Additional information |
Struck to mark Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother's 90th birthday in 1990, this issue is one of dozens of commemorative crowns produced across British Overseas Territories during the later decades of the reign — the Falkland Islands among the most prolific issuers. The practice had become so routine by this point that the Royal Mint and associated producers were supplying near-identical specifications to multiple territories simultaneously, with only the issuing authority changed.
The Falklands' particular enthusiasm for such issues picked up sharply after 1982.
