Additional information

Guernsey has issued commemorative crown-sized pieces under royal license since the 1970s, and by 2003 the format had become a reliable revenue mechanism for the island's treasury rather than a response to any particular naval anniversary. The Golden Hind connection here is Drake's circumnavigation of 1577–1580, the second such voyage in history and the first under English command — though the ship itself was renamed mid-voyage from the Pelican, a detail most issues in this series quietly ignore.
