Reverse description The central device features a large, highly detailed relief effigy of a Flanders poppy in full bloom, its open petals and prominent stamens filling the field, engraved by Timothy Noad as a Remembrance Day commemorative. The legend LEST WE FORGET arcs along the upper periphery in bold serif capitals, flanked by two raised dots. The denomination FIVE POUNDS is inscribed along the lower arc, with the date reference 11 • 11 • 11 — evoking the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month — positioned in the lower central field beneath the poppy. In some variants the poppy is rendered with applied colour.
