Jersey's Remembrance issues have become an annual fixture, but the 2019 edition marked the centenary of the first two-minute silence, observed on 11 November 1919 at the suggestion of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick — a proposal relayed to King George V through the Colonial Secretary and adopted with less than three weeks' notice. The silence was not yet the fixed national ritual it would become; that first observance was improvised, uncertain, and in some cities barely coordinated.
The selective rose-gold plating on a .999 fine substrate is a finishing technique that complicates die life and requires secondary electroplating after striking — not standard for bullion-weight proofs of this size.
