Reverse description A stylized poppy in full bloom occupies the central field, its petals rendered with selective gold plating to evoke the vivid red of remembrance poppies. Within the heart of the poppy the numeral 90 is prominently displayed, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. The denomination 5 POUNDS appears below the central motif, flanked by the legend LEST WE FORGET arching above. At the base, three Roman numerals XI XI XI allude to the time, day, and month of the 1918 Armistice, accompanied by the inscriptions HOUR DAY MONTH.

Additional information

The Royal British Legion's paper poppy appeal began in 1921, inspired by John McCrae's 1915 poem and organized through Anna Guérin's French poppy selling campaigns. By 2011, the 90th anniversary prompted a wave of commemorative issues across British dependencies, Jersey among them. The selective gold plating on this piece — applied to the poppy element specifically — was a production technique gaining traction in proof commemoratives around this period, achieved through electrochemical deposition after striking.
