Additional information

Jersey issued this piece in 2015 to mark Elizabeth II surpassing Queen Victoria's reign length on September 9th of that year — the moment she became Britain's longest-reigning monarch at 63 years and 216 days. The selective gold ink application is a post-strike process, not a mint technology, applied to highlight specific design elements without the cost of a full gold-plated striking.

The 1950s portrait referenced in the title is Mary Gillick's effigy, used on British and Commonwealth coinage from the coronation year of 1953 until the late 1960s.
