Reverse description The reverse, designed by John Bergdahl, presents a full-length portrait of King Henry VIII in the Tudor style, depicted standing en face in elaborate courtly dress including a feathered bonnet, fur-trimmed cloak, jewelled doublet, and holding a sword at his side. The figure is set within a quatrefoil frame, flanked by the royal cypher 'H R' (Henricus Rex) to either side. A decorative floral frieze forms the ground beneath the king's feet. The outer border features a rope-edged rim enclosing the inscriptions 'THE ACCESSION OF HENRY VIII 1509' at the top and '·FIVE POUNDS·' at the bottom, with the engraver's initials 'JB' visible in the lower right field.
