| Obverse description | Gilt right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl drop earring with a pearl necklace, as designed by Raphael David Maklouf; the portrait occupies the central field against a highly polished proof background with selective gold gilding highlighting the bust. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and ALDERNEY along the right periphery, both in raised Latin characters. The date 2002 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the portrait. The designer's initials RDM are incuse on the truncation of the bust. |
