Additional information

Issued to mark the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, founded on 1 April 1918 through the merger of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service — making it the world's first independent air force. Jersey's connection to the RAF took on particular weight given the island's occupation by Germany from 1940 to 1945, during which RAF operations over the Channel were a persistent, visible reminder that the war was not over.
