| Additional information |
Issued a year after the actual Diamond Jubilee in 2012, this piece reflects Guernsey's established practice of extending commemorative programs beyond the event date to meet collector demand. The island has issued Crown-sized silver pieces under its own authority since 1966, when it separated its coinage from the general British series following decimalization preparations.
The selective gold plating was applied post-strike, a finishing technique that became nearly ubiquitous in the commemorative market after the Royal Mint popularized it in the early 2000s.
