Reverse description Central field displays an arrangement of eight stylised coin effigies representing the original decimal denominations introduced on 15 February 1971, comprising the 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 25p, 50p, and £1, each bearing its face value in selective gold ink applied to their surfaces. The date 15 FEB 1971 is inscribed in the central field between the coin effigies in silver. The circumferential legend 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF DECIMALISATION arcs around the upper portion, while FIVE POUNDS is inscribed along the lower border, with decorative foliate separators and a beaded inner border framing the entire composition.
