Reverse description The reverse features a stylised design by Christine Ellingham commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Five uniformed figures in tricorn hats, rendered in a flat, graphic style, stand in a row across the centre of the field. To the upper left, a bouquet of poppies is depicted, while to the upper right stands a war memorial tower with figures at its base. The royal cypher 'EIIR' within a beaded circle appears at lower right. The denomination 'FIVE POUNDS' is inscribed vertically along the right field, and the commemorative legend 'THE GOLDEN JUBILEE' runs along the lower arc.

Additional information

Issued fifty years after the June 1953 coronation, this piece belongs to the wave of commemoratives produced across Crown Dependencies and Commonwealth territories for the Golden Jubilee year. Jersey, as a Crown Dependency, holds a constitutional relationship with the monarch distinct from both the United Kingdom and its overseas territories — the Duchy connection predates English parliamentary authority on the island entirely. That distinction gave the States of Jersey independent latitude in issuing commemorative coinage throughout Elizabeth II's reign.

KM#119a designates the silver proof variant, struck to a different specification than the accompanying base-metal issue released the same year.
