Additional information

Concorde's first test flight departed Toulouse on 2 March 1969, piloted by André Turcat — a French aircraft, a French crew, and a moment that briefly upstaged the British programme entirely. The 40th anniversary fell in 2009, the sixth year after the type's permanent retirement following the 2000 Air France crash and the commercial collapse that followed.

Tristan da Cunha issues coins largely as philatelic-numismatic revenue, with negligible circulation on the island itself.
