Additional information

Jersey's commemorative output has long leaned on British military history, and the 2009 Waterloo issue appeared on the 194th anniversary — an odd choice, suggesting the mint's production schedule had more to do with the broader wave of Napoleonic bicentennial programming than any particular Jersey connection. The island was, however, genuinely within Napoleon's strategic sights; French invasion plans for the Channel Islands existed as late as 1813, giving the subject at least some local relevance.

The selective gold plating was applied post-striking, a finish that ages unpredictably on circulated or mishandled pieces.
