Issued to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar — though struck two years ahead of the 2005 anniversary — this Guernsey crown-sized piece was part of a wave of British and Crown Dependency issues that preceded the official commemorations. Nelson had no direct connection to Guernsey, but the island's close ties to the Royal Navy and its history of privateering made the subject commercially viable for the States' coin program. KM#160 is copper-nickel, the circulation-strike version; a silver proof was issued alongside it.
