Issued on the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805. Nelson was struck by a musket ball from the French ship Redoutable at approximately 1:15 PM and died below decks some three hours later, never learning the full scale of the British victory. His body was preserved in a barrel of brandy — later switched to spirits of wine — for the return voyage to England.
