Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic with a population that rarely exceeded 300 during the twentieth century, has no direct connection to the Battle of Britain — the island sits 2,800 kilometres from the nearest continent. These issues are produced entirely for the collector market, struck by the Pobjoy Mint under license, and never circulate on the island itself.
The Battle of Britain ended in late October 1940, with the Luftwaffe having failed to achieve air superiority over the RAF in roughly fifteen weeks of sustained combat.
