Reverse description A highly detailed, centrally placed depiction of St. Edward's Crown — the coronation crown of the British monarchs — rendered with elaborate ornamentation including pearl-studded arches, jewelled crosses-pattée, and velvet cap, occupying the majority of the field. A Tudor rose in full bloom with foliage appears to the upper right, and the royal cypher EIIR within a circular cartouche is positioned to the lower right. The legend 65TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination FIVE POUNDS is inscribed along the lower border, all separated by decorative scroll elements.

Additional information

Jersey's coronation anniversary issues have become reliable fixtures in the Royal Mint licensing ecosystem, and this 2018 piece marks the 65th — a sapphire anniversary by traditional reckoning, though that framing was largely a retail construct built around the parallel sapphire jubilee branding used across Commonwealth commemoratives that year. Elizabeth II's original coronation on June 2, 1953 was itself the first to be televised, drawing an estimated 27 million viewers in Britain alone at a time when television sets were still a novelty in most households.

Struck at .916 fine in a proof finish, the 39.94g specification places it in the same weight class as a full sovereign's larger commemorative cousins rather than standard circulation bullion.
